Hot Spots & Events In Memphis

  • As the largest city in the great state of Tennessee, you might guess that there's a lot of different entertainment options out there. If this was your guess, we're here to tell you that you are spot on! Memphis is a wonderful city to enjoy some of the tastiest cuisine, coolest clubs, biggest festivals, and so much more. It really is impossible to put a full embodiment on everything this area is, in so few words. That doesn't stop us from trying, however.

Memphis is a very culturally diverse region. These roots stem back to before the colonial days when the Chickasaw Indian Tribe laid claim to the area. Today, you'll see this divergence of cultures manifested in some of the most exciting annual events in the country. The biggest of these being the Memphis in May celebration which is a month long chain of events that promotes the diverse traditions within the region. Within this month long celebration are the premier "headlining" events comprising the Beale Street Music Festival, International Week, The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, and the Great River Run. However, throughout the year, you'll find that Memphis is bustling with activity and is a great place to visit, live, and work!

Since we often frequent some awesome places to eat in the boundaries of Memphis, we want to share some "can't miss" spots that everyone who comes to Memphis should visit at least once. If you have a favorite, feel free to drop us a line and let us know!

Iris has received not only "Best Restaurant" but "Best Chef" and "Best Service" from Memphis Magazine. Texas de Brazil
    (901) 526-7600
    150 Peabody Pl #103, Memphis, TN 38103

Texas de Brazil as you may have gleaned from the name is a Brazilian Steakhouse featuring all you can eat grilled meat carved table side. In addition they also have a wonderful salad bar, but this isn't just any regular salad bar, it is well stocked with high end and delicious ingredients such as goat cheese, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, terrine hearts and fresh mozzarella. It is an excellent churrascaria style restaurant. The Filet Mignon is absolutely mouth-watering as is the Garlic Sirloin.

    Buckley's Grill
    (901) 683-4538
5355 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119

If you are looking for high end food but want to skip the pretension look no further than Buckley's Grill. Rag's Cheese Bread is what all other cheese breads aspire to be on a perfectly toasted baguette, covered in melted Monterey Jack Cheese and Italian herbs. Another recommendation you may overlook is the Ravioli Soup, simply wonderful. Of course for main dishes Buckley's has all the standards. Mouth watering burgers, Macadamia nut encrusted Mahi, pan seated and topped with a lemon cream sauce.

    Miss Polly's Soul City Cafe

154 Beale St, Memphis, TN 38103

A favorite on Beale Street since 2007, Miss Polly's Soul City Cafe has soul food specialties that keep the customers lined up out the door. From chicken and waffles to barbecued spaghetti, and they stay open 24 hours a day on Fridays and Saturdays to serve the bar crowd and the breakfast crowd. This small, eclectic diner knows it's crowd and keeps them very happy, when you stop in you are sure to count yourself among that group.
